August 2019 - Papineau Labelle Park

Description

Private Report:
We drove an FJ Cruiser to try to attempt a night hike to an abandoned lake called Lac Norraye in Papineau Labelle Park. We stopped the truck, we heard footsteps in the tree line next to the logging road, got spooked and we both got back into the vehicle and started listening with the windows down, we heard many heavy footsteps. The anxiety built and we both decided we weren’t going to attempt a night hike to Lac Norraye which was approximately 2 kms away through thick forest. After about 10 minutes, we heard the first rock hit the top of the truck, it was no acorn, clearly a rock! I started the truck and began driving slowly along the road, we stopped a few kilometres away in a clearing and a rock hit the bat gate of the truck! We took off hastily, there was no one in the park.

I was accompanied by a close friend of Italian heritage, once we got home, we saw that the back gate paint was chipped from where the rock hit.
